Further Information
Thor's Cave and Throwley Hall are two historic sites located in the Manifold Valley in Staffordshire.
Thor's Cave is a natural cavern set in a steep limestone crag. It is thought to have been used as a dwelling by humans during the Stone Age, with evidence of occupation dating back to 3000 BC. The cave is also associated with the Norse god Thor, and is said to be the site where he once hid his hammer.
Throwley Hall is a ruined medieval manor house. It was built in the early 16th century by the Meverell family, and was once a grand estate. However, the hall fell into disrepair in the 17th century, and is now only a ruin.
Both Thor's Cave and Throwley Hall are popular tourist destinations. They are located in a beautiful part of the Peak District, and offer stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
