Halldale, Milldale and Wolfscote Dale
Difficulty: Medium
Length: 9.02 miles
There are 2 small car parks in the village, one has a public toilet. Both have bins so help keep the village tidy and dispose of your rubbish responsibly. The village hall is open for tea and coffee, so makes a good end to your walk with a treat.
From the car park head through the village, joining the footpath by what looks like the entrance to someones garden. Head across the fields and drop down to the bottom of the hill, head just along the country lane a few yards and rejoin the footpath heading uphill towards Stanshope. From Stanshope, follow the signs to Halldale, follow the footpath across the fields and head through the dale, on your way you will pass Ilam Rock. Cross the river and head back on yourself with Upper Taylor's Wood on your right, continue along the path to Dove Holes. Continue to follow the river all the way to Milldale. For those that need refueling, Polly's Cottage offers takeaway refreshments, and can be seen just over the road as you enter Milldale along the footpath.
Your walk continues to follow the River Dove all the way through Woolfscote Dale, before heading back up to the car at Alstonefield.
